The Greater One-horned Rhinos can weigh between 1800-2700 kgs and are are found in Assam, India and Nepal. They are great swimmers and can dive under water and feed on food. They use 12 different sounds for communication like snorts and honks. They are are usually solitary (except for females with calves) and males have violent fights for territories.

It was a great start to our day when we saw these 3 male lions walking across the grasslands in Mara. The mane around the neck of the lions begins to grow at age 2 and also signals sexual maturity. The size and density can make the lion appear larger and hence a threat to its potential opponents. And along with being dense if the mane is darker,it signifies a healthy lion in his prime, and also helps attract the females.
In nature, if you don’t need it, don’t disturb it. A tigress walks past these peacocks in Ranthambore National Park as she is not looking to hunt but just take a round of her territory. The peacocks on the other hand, seem to know it and just carefully gauge her moves.

Recent studies have shown a 75-90% decline in Indian Leopard population in 100 years. Human conflict, poaching, road & rail fatalities being some of the major reasons. Conservationists believe that Leopards need as much attention as the Tigers.
