This was a very special moment when we saw these three cubs playing very close to our boat which was stuck in the middle of ice. Polar bears are very playful and the cubs grow quickly on their mother's fat rich milk and on seal blubber.

Salmon run in Alaska begins from June to August during which time Grizzly bears eat over 40 fish a day to prepare for hibernation. This is from our trip to Alaska where the Grizzlies had plenty of choice and we were just happy enough to not be their food.

A mother bear's face off with a young male with Brooks Falls in the background. We had been photographing the young male when the female bear arrived with her two cubs. The moment she saw the male, she went charging straight at him to intimidate him and proactively quash any potential danger to her cubs.
